North Tawton Beavers

Beavers is the Section for boys and girls aged between 6 and 8.

We meet each Wednesday during term time at the North Tawton Rugby Club - normally from 4:45 until 6:00.

It is sometimes necessary to put your child's name on the waiting list until a space becomes available if we have the maximum number of Beavers in the group, but hopefully we should have a place for them within the next term.  If your child is not yet six, you may also put their name on the waiting list.

We have three leaders (Rowena, Geoff and Karen) plus a Young Leader (Josh).  We also have a parent rota which means that each parent will be asked to help at a session approximately once a term.

Activities Rota for Winter/Spring 2010

We have an active programme planned for this term and are hoping for good weather – especially for when we plan to be out. This term we are going to aim to carry on with the activities planned whatever the weather (within reason), so would appreciate it if you could ensure that your children come to each session with a waterproof coat and waterproof shoes and if the activity is a wet one or the weather is very wet, a change of clothes.

Beaver Rules

We talked to the Beavers about what rules we should have to make sure the sessions are fun for everyone. Between them they came up with the following rules:

  1. Only one person to speak at a time
  2. Listen when someone is talking
  3. No fighting, running, standing on tables, kicking or breaking things
  4. Be gentle and considerate
  5. Don’t go outside without permission
  6. Don’t mess around and be silly – it spoils it for everyone
They also wanted a 3 stage system for Beavers who don’t behave:

Green – first warning

Yellow – second warning

Red
– have to miss the next week’s session

We’ve also decided to award points for good behaviour and at the end of each half term, the Beaver with the most points will receive a trophy.
