Beaver Scouts are our youngest members, aged from 6 to 8 years old. Young people can usually join in the three months before their 6th birthday and can ‘swim up’ to Cub Scouts between 8 and 8½ years. Even though they are our youngest section they still enjoy all that scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to get creative, exploring the local community and the excitement of their first Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends.
Members of the Beaver Scouts are called a ‘Colony’ and will get to take part in a wide range of activities from an exciting and challenging programme and have the chance to earn coveted badges for participation. There are activity badges, challenge badges, core badges and all leading to the coveted Chief Scout Bronze Award.
Some of the exciting activities they have taken part in over the last year include a Sleeping with the Sharks sleepover with some other local colonies, playing with a giant ball, trying different foods and smoothies, playing wet games, games on Dartmoor and taking part in whole group activities with the older sections.
